Our Story

The Ko'olauloa Children's Chorus (KCC) had its humble beginnings as "The Singing Kids" and has grown to a world class choir performing with internationally known conductors Henry Leck, David Flood and Emily Ellsworth. KCC singers represent diverse cultures found in our Ko'olauloa community. Founded in 2011 by choral director Esther Macy, KCC gives opportunities to children ages 8 thru 17 to learn, grow and excel thru quality instruction and experiences that emphasize the development of musical skills and understanding.

In 2006, KCC was the first group from Hawaii to perform in the international Children's Choral Festival in Canterbury and London, England. In 2009, the choir again was the first ever children's choir from Hawaii invited to sing with the National Children's Choir at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Choir fees go back to the choir for uniforms, music and other expenses. KCC staff, including the choral director, donate their time and talents to the choir. The program strives to foster the personal and social growth of its members to promote their sense of self-esteem, discipline, accomplishment and pride.
