YSA Bridal Shower

A Laie YSA bridal shower is an approved private event that brides-to-be in the Laie YSA 1st and 2nd stakes are able to request through their respective bishoprics.

Bishopric members, below is what you'll need to do in order to submit a request for a bridal shower:

IMPORTANT: Requests may be submitted ONE MONTH in advance. No earlier.

During the semester, bridal showers may take place on Saturdays only. During the break, bridal showers may take place on Wednesdays-Saturdays.

Step 1: Review the following information with your ward member.

Rules for All Buildings

  • Tape, nails, or pins should not be put on walls or doors. Candles or open flames are not allowed in the buildings.
  • Straw, confetti, sand, styrofoam peanuts or similar items are not allowed.
  • Colored drinks and soups are restricted from carpeted areas.
  • REMEMBER: Cooking is NOT allowed in the serving areas however, it may be used for the warming of precooked foods.

Clean Up

  • Wash, dry and put away all plates, serving utensils and silverware in its proper location.
  • All tables and chairs are to be wiped down.
  • All counters and sinks must be cleaned and free of food residue.
  • All signs must be removed, including those on campus grounds and highway.
  • Remove all decorations. Remove all food in the kitchen, refrigerator and serving area.
  • Remove all garbage from room, hallways, restrooms, and kitchen.
  • All tiled/wood floors must be mopped including the kitchen.
  • Set up the room for class the next day.
  • Turn off all lights, projectors, fans/air conditioning.

Rules for HGB 135 and Serving Area

***This facility is primarily for Laie YSA 2nd Stake members***

  • Up to 100 attendees
  • The event must be contained in HGB 135 and in the adjacent serving area. Do not overflow outside of this space.
  • Use ONLY the tables and chairs in the room and the storage closet in the room. Additional setup items are not available.
  • A projector with a screen may be made available upon request.
  • DO NOT MOVE the academic podium.
  • The building closes nightly at 11 pm.
  • Dumpsters are located outside the south corner of the building next to the serving area. REMOVE ALL RUBBISH.

Rules for the Stake Center Cultural Hall 1 and Serving Area

***This facility is primarily for Laie YSA 1st Stake members***

  • Up to 100 attendees.
  • The use of the room is limited to the tiled areas of the cultural hall. Bridal showers may not use the overflow or adjoining rooms.
  • Only round tables and chairs are available for use.
  • **See your bishop for: access to the closet where round tables, chairs, and two banquet tables are stored, member's custodial closet, a microphone or projector.
  • ** DO NOT MOVE or USE FURNITURE FROM OTHER ROOMS!
  • There is a projector and screen in this space. The stake center closes nightly at 11 pm; reception must be completed and cleaned up by 9 pm.
  • Dumpsters are located on the TVA side of the building.
  • Helium balloons are not permitted in this space.

Rules for the Stake Center Pavilion and serving area

***This facility is primarily for Laie YSA 1st Stake members***

  • Up to 100 guests
  • The use of this outside space is limited to the pavilion area and immediate surrounding grass.
  • WATER-LESS inflatables may be allowed; on grass only. If renting inflatables from a vendor, a Certificate of Liability of Insurance listing BYU–Hawaii as an added insurer is required and must be submitted to Event Services & Outreach.
  • As a courtesy to TVA residents, events may set up no earlier than 8 am and must be out and cleaned by 8 pm.
  • No loud music before 10 am. Additional items are not available for this space.
  • CHARCOAL GRILLING IS NOT ALLOWED. PROPANE IS OK.

Rules for the Aloha Center Ballroom and Serving Area

***Blackout dates for Aloha Center Ballroom: Reading Days and BYUH Graduation***

  • Based on availability and if the guest count is over 100, the Ballroom may act as an extension of your stake building.
  • Use is limited to the Ballroom and adjacent kitchen only.
  • Setup may begin at 8 pm the night before IF it is available. Ward members may return the next morning to complete decorations.
  • The chair racks and black curtains must stay in the building. Do not remove them.
  • A grand piano may be requested.
  • A projector and a motorized screen are available upon request.
  • The building closes nightly at 11 pm.
  • Dumpsters are located directly outside of the kitchen.
  • Helium balloons are not permitted in this space.
  • Garbage cans, 6' banquet tables, and chairs are available at no charge; enough for 200 guests plus additional needs.

Additional items available for rent in ballroom only

  • 4x8 stage right risers w/24 inch legs (9 total) $15 each
  • stairs $29 each
  • 5ft round tables $13 each

Other Requirements

  • A $200 refundable deposit is required and must be paid to Event Services & Outreach. We accept debit/credit card OR cash.
  • The refund for the deposit will be processed one business day after the completion of the bridal shower. If you paid with a debit/credit card, the refund will go directly to that card within 3-5 business days. If you paid with cash, please provide a valid mailing address for a check to be mailed. This process can take 7-10 business days.
  • Any damages to facilities OR failure to follow rules of using the facility will result in a loss of deposit.
  • Events are limited to 4 hours; this does not include setup, decorating and clean-up.
  • Clean-up time and building hours should be considered when planning the time of the bridal shower.
